Zuletzt gelesen: Tom Wolfes "Back to Blood" (2012)

"Back to Blood is less about character than it is about chaos, and its plot tends to wander from one extreme event to the next, from the grotesque sexuality of the Columbus Day Regatta to racially tinged violence between cops and suspects at a crack house in Overtown to a Sunny Isles strip club run by Russian gangsters. It’s big and wild, and its characters are larger than life. Whether we like this book or not, we can’t deny there’s an awful lot of us here."

So stellt uns der Miami Herald, der es wissen muss, hier Tom Wolfes starken Reportagen-Roman über die wunderbare Metropole Miami vor.

So sieht den Film hier die New York Times:

"The story hinges on Maya, a spiky loner with next to no back story, no friend or family, who’s more of an ambivalent protagonist than a traditional heroine. She is introduced in the first scene during the interrogation of a prisoner, Ammar (Reda Kateb), by another C.I.A. officer, Dan (Jason Clarke). Ammar, whom Mr. Boal has said is a composite, looks as if he has been beaten. “I own you,” Dan says, “you belong to me.”"

"Mal lustig, mal spannend, mal sehr plakativ romantisch lässt sich Django Unchained abseits der extrem brutalen Szenen so auch glatt als Entertainment mit politischen Überbau lesen. Als der Deutsche dem Amerikaner wegen Broomhilda alias Brünnhilde relativ knapp die Nibelungensage verklickert, wird es sogar ein bisschen erbaulich."

Zuletzt gelesen: Daniel Silvas "The Fallen Angel" (2012)

"Even so, his last few Allon novels have had me slipping away. They felt like lectures in political and geo-global responsibility. Bad thing? Overall not really they felt that sort of diatribe that demeans the reader. Trepidation led the way into The Fallen Angel: A Novel. This was the novel where we would either part ways or be back on track. We’re back on track." Die komplette Rezension finden Sie hier.

"Daniel Craig makes 007 his own in this very British Bond adventure – perhaps the best in the series' 50-year history." Die Rezension aus "The Guardian" lesen Sie hier.

"Baldacci’s success lies in an ability to build plots and create characters that in lesser hands would seem like the fringe conspiracy theorist's best bad dream." Eine Rezension finden Sie hier.

Zuletzt gelesen: Robert Harris' "The Fear Index" (2012)

"It’s an energetically researched tale based on one of the back stories to the crash of 2008: bankers’ hiring of physicists to devise hugely complex trading programs that few really understand, and those new strategies running dangerously amok. It’s also a familiar story of hubris and its fallout." Zur Rezension der New York Times geht es hier.
